1.2.2 Brief History of PELUM-RDC
National-level consultation and continental affiliation milestones.
The idea of creating a PELUM chapter in the Democratic Republic of Congo emerged from consultations held in the eastern provinces of the country, where civil society organisations supported the creation of a national platform and the request for affiliation to PELUM Association.
Ten founding non-governmental organisations signed the constitution of PELUM-RDC during the Constituent General Assembly of 19 October 2019. After a difficult period marked by COVID-19 and the need to complete legal registration, the network resumed activities and moved toward national recognition and continental affiliation.
