1.2.2 Brief History of PELUM-RDC
National-level consultation and continental affiliation milestones.
The idea of creating a PELUM chapter in the Democratic Republic of Congo emerged from consultations held in the eastern provinces of the country, where civil society organisations supported the creation of a national platform and the request for affiliation to PELUM Association.
Ten founding non-governmental organisations signed the constitution of PELUM-RDC during the Constituent General Assembly of 19 October 2019. After a difficult period marked by COVID-19 and the need to complete legal registration, the network resumed activities and moved toward national recognition and continental affiliation.

A visit from the Regional Secretariat Committee assessed the progress of PELUM DRC and prepared the report later presented at the Triennial General Assembly.
The Triennial General Assembly held in Arusha, Tanzania, made the DRC the fourteenth country member of PELUM Association.
